COSTA MESA -- After a frustrating four-game stretch, the Orange Coast College men's soccer returned to the "win" column with a 2-0 Orange Empire Conference win over visiting Cypress on Tuesday. Following a scoreless first half of action, the Pirates (8-7-1, 5-3-1 in OEC) grabbed hold of the lead when Dean Regis sent a pass toward the goal, where Jordan Gorman followed with a nice touch-pass to Will Munoz, who buried his shot into the back of the net in the 65th minute. Twenty minutes later, Regis again made things happen with a nice extra pass to Antonio Gonzalez and the freshman midfielder drilled a shot into the lower-left corner to make it 2-0. Outshooting the Chargers 20-9, OCC controlled things from the opening whistle and used a strong all-around game to keep the guests out of the goal. Pirates' goalkeeper Zakre Silva notched four saves for the shutout win. Coast returns to action on Friday at home against Irvine Valley, beginning at 1 p.m.
