Kathy Kahn holds a degree in dance from United States International University, magna cum laude. For many years Kathy was a soloist, ballet mistress, and resident choreographer for Ballet Pacifica, where she received her early training from company founder Lila Zali, formerly of the Colonel de Basil Ballet Russes. Thousands of Orange County children have viewed Kathy’s many whimsical and humorous original ballets such as Mixed Vegetables and Flitters and Creepers, as well as classic children’s stories performed on Ballet Pacifica’s Ballet for Children series. Other companies that have performed Kathy’s works include Dance Peninsula Ballet in Palos Verdes and DanceCorps in Pasadena. Kathy has also choreographed Pinocchio and The Twelve Dancing Princesses for South Coast Repertory’s Young Conservatory Players, and The Music Man for Laguna Playhouse. Her choreography has been seen three times at the Regional Dance America/Pacific Ballet Festival. Kathy is the former director of Laguna Beach Ballet Studio and has taught at numerous dance schools throughout Orange County, including 31 years at Coastline Community College. Besides teaching at OCC, Kathy is currently on the dance faculty at Southland Ballet.
