Pop-Up Blocker Information
About Pop-up Blockers
Your pop-up blocker blocks pop-ups indiscriminately. Leaving the blocker enabled could result in your being unable to access course material. You could have installed a pop-up blocker in a number of ways, specifically through your browser or added-on toolbars.
You can turn off your pop-up blocker specifically for our Blackboard Vista URL, instead of disabling it completely.

Disable Your Browser's Pop-up Blocker
This process will vary depending on which browser you're using. Here are instructions for Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer To disable pop-ups in IE, follow these steps:
- Go to the "Tools" menu at the top of your browser.
- From this menu, click "Pop-up Blocker" and make sure that you have the blocker turned off. (When it is turned off, it should give you the option to turn it back on, reading "Turn On Pop-up Blocker").
- If you want to allow pop-ups just for the Blackboard site, then make sure your blocker is enabled first. When the blocker is enabled, you will see an option for "Pop-up Blocker Settings" under the "Pop-up blocker" menu.
- Click on "Pop-up Blocker Settings."
- When the dialog box comes up, enter cconline.occ.cccd.edu into the "Address of Web site to allow:" field. This will allow pop-ups for the Blackboard site only.
Mozilla Firefox
- Go to the "Tools" menu at the top of your browser.
- From this menu, click "Options," and then select the "Content" icon in the "Options" dialog box.
- Make sure that the checkbox next to "Block pop-up windows" is unchecked; this will disable pop-ups on your browser. If you want to disable pop-ups just for the Blackboard address, do not check the "Block pop-up windows" box. Instead, click the "Exceptions" button next to the checkbox.
- Type in cconline.occ.cccd.edu into the "Address of web site:" field. Then click "Close," and "OK." This will allow pop-ups for Blackboard.
Safari (Version 2)
- Go to "Safari" and then click on "Block Pop-up Windows." The "Block Pop-up Windows" option should now be unchecked. You will now be able to receive pop-ups.

Disable Your (Yahoo! or Google) Toolbar's Pop-Up Blocker
To disable your Google/Yahoo! toolbar, you should do the following:
- Look for the icon that refers to pop-ups. It will likely have a picture of little windows on it, and tell you how many pop-ups it has blocked for you.
- If you just click on the button with the windows on it, it should change to say "Pop-ups okay." This should take care of your problem.
Still having trouble? If you are still getting messages about your pop-up blocker when you access the Blackboard login page, you might try these alternatives:
- If you can't see your toolbar, or if you're not sure you have one installed, double check by placing your mouse over the browser tool bar area and right clicking. Make sure that your toolbars from Google and/or Yahoo! are unhidden, then apply the previous step.
- Make sure that you have the latest versions of the toolbars. If you have a Google toolbar, then make sure it is the latest, and if you have a Yahoo! toolbar, do the same.
