Post Acceptance Checklist - Initial Summer 2016

  • Select a shipping method:  a.) If you want to receive your I-20 and acceptance letter by an Express mail shipping service with a tracking number, please create an account and pay at E-Ship Global. With this service you will receive your documents within 3-5 business days. b.) If you want us to send your documents by regular postal mail delivery with no tracking please email us at occinternational@cccd.edu with regular shipping in the subject line.
  • Register for classes as soon as registration begins (Summer enrollment should become available in April) using the included MyOCC login information you have received by email.  Refer to the MyOCC reference guide.  The Course Selection Guide contains courses that meet some of the requirements for transfer to a University.  You should sign up for six units to maintain your F1 status.
  • Sign your I-20.  If you are under 18 your parent or guardian should also sign the I-20.

  • Pay the SEVIS Fee and print the I-901 fee receipt at www.fmjfee.com. (You will need it for your visa appointment and to travel to the U.S.)

  • Apply for a visa at a U.S. Consulate or Embassy that has jurisdiction over where you live, you can find out more information and instructions on what to bring at www.usembassy.gov.
  • After you have received your visa, buy health insurance from http://4studenthealth.ascensionins.com/.  Use the pull down menu to choose Orange Coast College and the year.  This insurance is mandatory. This insurance will become available for purchase approximately in April.
  • After you receive your F1 visa, arrange to travel to the U.S. and arrive up to 30 days before but no later than the May 30, 2016 program start date.  You must remain in the area until school begins.
  • Reserve your hotel (if needed) and obtain housing.  Housing information is on our housing and homestay webpage.

  • On the day of travel to the U.S. you should carry, with you, on your person (not in your luggage) your I-20, I-901 fee receipt, Valid F-1 Visa, Valid Passport with at least 6 months left until expiration, and your Financial Support Documents.

  • Call 714-432-5940 on next business day after you arrive to schedule a time to report to the International Center.  Bring your passport, I-20 & I-94 printed from https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/ (if needed you may use our computer).  Be prepared to pay your tuition fees when you report to our office.
  • You must attend the mandatory orientation at OCC June 7, 2016 - 8:30 am to satisfy the requirements of your visa.  Lunch will be provided.
