Orange Coast College is pleased to welcome Justin Dion as the new Director of the Waterfront Campus.

Dion joined OCC from the East Coast, bringing valuable experience as a maritime professional on United States Navy and government cargo vessels. Licensed as a U.S. Coast Guard Master 1600 GRT and Second Mate Unlimited, he brings practical experience from the maritime industry.

“It is an honor to be named the next Director of the OCC Waterfront Campus,” says Dion. “My maritime career has afforded me lifelong friends, unmatched professional development, and the opportunity to sail worldwide alongside dedicated maritime professionals. I am excited to move my maritime career ashore and contribute to the continued success of OCC’s maritime programs.”

For over eight years, Dion served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy, where he held positions as the Strike Warfare Officer on USS Howard (DDG 83), Navigator on USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98) and as a case manager for the Navy Wounded Warrior program. Following his active duty service, he began sailing as a civilian mariner for Crowley Maritime Corporation, where he worked as 3rd Officer on board USNS Stockham (T-AK-3017).

Dion’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the United States Naval Academy and a master’s degree in business administration from Boston College.

“I am very excited to have Dion join our leadership team and look forward to his contributions,” says Vice President of Instruction Dr. Tara Giblin.
