The Orange Coast College Symphony and OCC Chamber Singers will perform a cosmic concert of familiar favorites and new discoveries on Saturday, May 11, in the College’s Robert B. Moore Theatre.

The performance, titled “Look at the Stars,” will include performances of Gustav Holst’s famous The Planets by the OCC Symphony and Jocelyn Hagen’s The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci by the OCC Chamber Singers. The dual performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Audience members will recognize some favorite tunes from The Planets, one of the most popular works of the 20th century, performed by the OCC Symphony and Dr. Mathew Ward. Eliza Rubenstein will conduct the OCC Chamber Singers in a performance of Hagen’s gorgeous and fascinating 2019 cantata based on the writings of Leonardo and paired with a colorful and captivating animated film synchronized to the music.

“You probably already love The Planets even if you don’t know it, and we promise you’re going to be amazed by the marriage of beautiful music, text, and animation in The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci,” says OCC Chamber Singers conductor Eliza Rubenstein.

This concert will appeal to long-time lovers of classical music and newcomers alike and promises to be an enriching musical experience.

Tickets are available for purchase for $15 for general admission and $10 with a CCCD student ID at the OCC Tickets website.
