The Orange Coast College Symphony will present Symphonic Opera with music from two accomplished European composers on March 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Robert B. Moore Theatre.

OCC Symphony Conductor Dr. Mathew Ward will lead musicians in the program, beginning with Overture to Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini, one of the most influential composers of nineteenth-century Italian opera. The popular concert piece is one of the greatest masterpieces of comedic opera.

Next, the symphony will perform Symphony No. 1 by Georges Bizet, a French musical prodigy who composed one of the most popular operas of all time. The symphony shows a precocious grasp of harmonic language and design.

“The OCC Symphony will explore stage music from two composers who are typically known for their operas—it will be a unique way to experience the music of Rossini and Bizet, ” says Dr. Mathew Ward.

The OCC Symphony is composed of OCC students and community member.

Tickets are available for purchase online at OCC Tickets for $10 for OCC students and $15 for general admission. Parking is available in Lots C and D near the Robert B. Moore Theatre.
