Orange Coast College's Theatre Department will present William Shakespeare’s classic comedy “A Midsummer Night's Dream,” from May 8-17 in the Drama Lab Theatre, brought to life by a wonderful cast and crew of OCC students.

Audiences are invited to journey into enchanted woods with Shakespeare's beloved comic tale of the power of love, mischief and magic. Kings, queens, fairies, lovers, and sprites all collide in an enchanted forest one midsummer night proving that the course of true love never did run smooth.

The story follows Hermia and Lysander as they flee into the forest to escape Hermia’s arranged marriage to Demetrius. They’re pursued by Demetrius and Helena, who is in love with Demetrius. Meanwhile, Oberon and Titania – the king and queen of the fairies – are at odds, and with the help of Puck, aka Robin Goodfellow, chaos and comedy ensue as all characters, including a group of “rude mechanicals” led by Nick Bottom, become entangled in magical mischief.

The OCC production of “A Midsummer Night's Dream” is directed by Peter Uribe with choreography by MJ Wolff.

“Highly physical, deeply romantic, hilariously funny, and full of family-friendly charm, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ stands among Shakespeare’s best-loved crowd-pleasers and offers the perfect introduction to his work,” says Uribe.

Performances will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m., with the last Sunday being a 2:30 p.m. matinee showing. Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for students, senior citizens or military personnel. Tickets are sold online only at the OCC Tickets website.

Free parking will be available in Lot C during all performance times.
