Orange Coast College students who utilize the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) free College Pass program will upgrade to Wave, a new digital system that offers a more efficient boarding process for the Spring 2026 semester.

The new smart technology of Wave replaces the current app and paper pass system and introduces a smooth transition for commuters.

In August 2022, OCC announced a partnership with OCTA allowing all full-time, part-time and non-credit enrolled students at Coast to access OCTA's local fixed routes.

"This program is part of Orange Coast College's response to supporting the basic needs of our students," says Dean of Student Success and Support Programs Steve Tamanaha. "One barrier for many students is transportation not just to campus but also to work, grocery shopping, and entertainment."

Students who have a continued need for a contactless smart card can visit the following OCC departments for assistance: Promise/Equity, Basic Needs Center, Future Pirate Center and The Hub.
