Dear Colleagues,
This month, we celebrate the tremendous contributions and achievements of women throughout our nation's history for Women's History Month, including the women who have contributed immensely to Orange Coast College's mission of transforming lives through education.
At OCC, we have a rich history of women's leadership from which to draw inspiration, including Margaret Gratton, who served as the College's first female president from 1996 until 2002; former Vice President of Student Services Sharon Donoff, who during her time as Dean of Students developed an on-campus Women's Center and coordinated a Re-Entry Program for Women; and Sue Brown, who helped usher in a new era of women's equality in California by developing and helping to implement Title IX legislation.
The path paved by Pirate women of yesterday is well traveled today by our exceptional female classified professionals, faculty, administrators and students, who are breaking down barriers to success and creating a more inclusive and equitable campus environment.
In honor of Women's History Month, and to recognize the incredible contributions of our colleagues in leadership, I invite you to join me at a virtual session titled, Women in Leadership: Herstory on Tuesday, March 22 at 2 p.m. The panelists will share their unique path to leadership, and inspire us as we continue our mission of advancing a college community that exemplifies excellence, equity and inclusion in service of students.
Sincerely,
