August 19, 2022 Update

Friday, August 19, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

We are a little more than one week away from the start of the Fall 2022 semester, and I can sense the excitement and anticipation building for the new academic year. As we prepare for the first day of classes, I want to take a moment to provide updates on a few important topics.

This year's Fall Flex Day will be held on Friday, Aug. 26 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Flex Day activities will take place in person for the first time in two years, and I know that many of you are excited to connect once again on campus. The theme for Flex Day is "Finding Our Way Forward" and the day's activities will include more than 40 sessions and 20 workshops, as well as a poster session, "State of the College" presentation and lunch. Five on-demand pre-recorded sessions will be available for those who cannot attend in person. You can view the Flex Day program for more information and see a schedule for the day, and registration is currently open on Cornerstone. If you need assistance registering for Flex Day sessions on Cornerstone, I encourage you to review this Guide For Using Cornerstone To Register.

Finally, I want to invite you to join me in welcoming all recently hired classified professionals, faculty, and managers to the Orange Coast College community. The heart of OCC is you — our exceptional employees — and I know our newest colleagues will help us continue to build upon our legacy of excellence and inclusion for students.

Looking forward to seeing you in person on Flex Day!

Sinecerely,
Angelica L. Suarez, Ph.D.&
