Dear Colleagues,
Orange Coast College is a proud Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI). We will join several colleges in celebrating AANAPISI Week, which runs from September 23 to September 29, 2024.
At OCC, we serve a student population of over 4,200 who identify as either Asian American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander--24% of our overall students. Throughout the year, OCC has hosted thoughtfully curated events and activities to honor the rich culture and traditions, further strengthening our students’ sense of belonging on campus. This week, we celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival featuring a delicious tea and mooncake tasting, intricate origami crafting, and an exciting Lion Dance performance.
I invite you to attend the virtual webinars hosted by the Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education Association (APAHE) —“AANAPISIs: Empowering Generations of AANHPI Students,” on September 24, and “Supporting the Next Generation of AANHPI Leaders” on September 27.
