Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to recognize Women's History Month, a time to honor the remarkable achievements and enduring contributions of women throughout history. Each year, the National Women’s History Alliance selects a theme, and this year's theme, "Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future," highlights the vital role women play in advancing innovation, social progress, and finding sustainable solutions.
Across Orange Coast College, this spirit of empowerment and opportunity continues to be reflected in the many programs and initiatives that support and uplift women in education, leadership, and the workforce.
On March 7, the OCC Veterans Resource Center will co-sponsor the Women Veterans Health Symposium in partnership with Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the OC Black Chamber. The timing of this event is particularly meaningful as it coincides with International Women's Day, a global celebration of women's achievements and advocacy for gender equity.
On March 18, the OCC Gender Studies area is hosting a coloring event highlighting famous feminists. We will conclude the Women's History Month with a panel conversation showcasing our very own women in leadership on March 24 at the OCC Planetarium.
I hope to see you at these events as we continue to recognize the many ways women educate, inspire, and lead every day.
