ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The noncredit Computer Basics program is designed to build a foundation in basic computer and Internet usage for any learner with little or no computer experience. Students will develop an understanding and competency in basic computer usage, terminology and navigating the Internet to obtain and advance employment opportunities, and transition to other college courses. Students who successfully complete CHT A001N and CHT A002N will receive a Certificate of Completion.

CHT A001N - Computer Basics: Introduction
- Learn basic computer fundamentals, keyboarding, and introductory Microsoft Word features in a Windows environment
- Identify basic computer parts
- Scroll, navigate and use various commands and features on taskbar
- Use Windows search box and basic settings
- Practice using multiple windows and mouse functions to select, move or open buttons
- Properly use a flash drive for storage and locate saved files
- Review keyboarding skills and shortcuts
- Practice how to name, save, rename, copy, paste, move, find, delete and restore files
- Format a Word document and create a business letter
CHT A002N - Navigating the Internet
- Compare and use various search engines to conduct an effective search
- Use web browser features, settings and bookmarks to manage searches
- Define purpose and types of social media and online communications tools
- List Internet dangers, viruses, scams, and safety precautions to evaluate a website’s credibility
- Create a professional email with an attachment and signature block
- Demonstrate how to download files and manage emails into folders
- Describe key points of the History of the Internet and basic terminology
