Our mission in the Geography Department is to develop an informed and geographically literate population by offering diverse and engaging courses in geography. The faculty of Orange Coast College guide students as they develop a global awareness and interconnectedness with other cultures around the world.
All students who complete one or more courses in Geography will be able to identify, analyze, and interpret spatial information. In addition, all students will be able to understand the spatial distributions, processes, and controls of the earth’s physical, cultural, and regional features from the global to local scale.
The Geography Department recognizes the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of the work that we do. This includes curriculum development, course content, professional development, student support, hiring and recruitment. We are committed to actively expanding the representation of diverse views and perspectives on campus and within the discipline of Geography.
