About OCC Swap Meet

A Weekend Tradition You Can’t Miss

The OCC Swap Meet is a vibrant weekend tradition in Costa Mesa for many generations of families. While many traditional swap meets have faded with the rise of online shopping, the OCC Swap Meet continues to thrive as a beloved destination for bargain hunters, families, and the local community. Visitors can explore rows of fresh produce, delicious food, unique antiques, vintage finds, and affordable everyday goods — all in one lively marketplace. More than just a place to shop, it’s a welcoming gathering spot where generations of vendors and visitors connect, share stories, and celebrate a true sense of community.

History

The Orange Coast College (OCC) Swap Meet began in the early 1980s, during a "golden era" for Orange County flea markets. It was originally founded by the Lions Club of Costa Mesa and started with a single monthly gathering at the school's Merrimac Lot. Due to its quick popularity, the Lions Club approached the college, and OCC officially took over in 1982. The college's administration immediately saw the potential to support community education and arts programs, switching the operation to every weekend. In 1984, the open market relocated to the Adams Avenue parking lot, its current location.
