Happy Hmong New Year!
Happy Hmong New Year!
Hmong New Year festivities historically celebrated from November to early January, which mark the end of the harvest and honored ancestors for a fruitful year. Families prepared feasts with their crops and meat dishes, paying tribute to their ancestors and seeking blessings for the year ahead. Traditional practices like shamanistic rituals and soul-calling ceremonies, known as hu plig, focused on healing and protection by reuniting wandering souls.

Visit Long Beach Hmong New Year celebration from December 14th - 15th starting at 8:00 am to 5:00 pm to explore Hmong culture hosted by the Hmong Association of Long Beach.
Asian Pacific Islander Scholarships (APIA Scholars) Application is now open until January 15th, 2025!
Asian Pacific Islander Scholarships

🎓 APIA Scholars Scholarships: Open to AANHPI students attending U.S. colleges, offering awards from $2,500 to $20,000. Focused on supporting first-gen, low-income, and underrepresented students. New this year: One essay, no extra documents required!
