Join us this May as Orange Coast College celebrates Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month 2025 with the theme: “A Legacy of Leadership and Resilience.” This year’s programming uplifts the stories, struggles, and successes of AANHPI communities—past and present—through cultural events, educational workshops, and community storytelling. AANHPI Regional Forum

On April 29th, OCC AANHPI hosted Unity in Action: AANHPI Regional Forum in the College Center, bringing together campus staff, students, and local community college AANHPI/APIDA programs to share, learn, and strengthen our collective efforts in serving our communities. We’re grateful for the ongoing support that empowers our work.
"Finding the Virgo" Screening
Memories in Motion screening Finding the Virgo at OCC Forum kicked off OCC’s AANHPI Heritage Month celebration themed A Legacy of Leadership & Resilience with a powerful tribute to Vietnamese American history. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Fall of the Republic of Vietnam, this special screening honored the enduring spirit of the Vietnamese diaspora and their stories of survival, strength, and community rebuilding across generations.
USS Midway Museum Field Trip

On April 28th, OCC AANHPI held its first field trip to the USS Midway Museum in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Operation Frequent Wind, offering students a powerful opportunity to learn about the Vietnamese boat refugee experience and diaspora history.
APAHE 2025

From April 10–11, the OCC AANHPI Team attended the APAHE 2025 Conference in Oakland, CA, alongside student participants. Centered on the theme “Choosing Humanity,” the conference explored how educators and leaders can co-create spaces rooted in joy, justice, and shared leadership to affirm community, culture, and equity in higher education. Students had the opportunity to network, learn, and engage with professionals dedicated to transformative change.
