Omega Psi Sigma

Omega Psi Sigma is the Political Science Honor Society of Orange Coast College, founded in 2012.  Its mission is to promote scholarly interest, engagement, and achievement in the fields of political science, the law, international relations, and social issues. Members develop leadership and organizational skills while gaining practical work experience through volunteer activities and projects. 

Students may apply for Permanent Membership if ALL of the eligibility criteria have been met.  Initial Membership is available to those who have completed fewer than two qualifying courses and may be advanced to Permanent level once the coursework has been completed with the required GPA.

Initial Membership Requires:

• Current enrollment in OCC coursework
• Completion of at least 12 units of OCC coursework with a minimum cum GPA of 3.0
• Completion of one qualifying course* with a minimum grade of B

Permanent Membership Requires:

• Current enrollment in OCC coursework
• Good standing status with the Dean of Students Services’ Office and paid the College Service Charge
• Completion of at least 12 units of OCC coursework with a minimum cum GPA of 3.0
• Completion of two or more qualifying courses* with a minimum 3.25 GPA among them

Permanent members ONLY will receive a notation on their transcripts and are eligible to purchase and wear OPS honors regalia at their commencement ceremonies. 

*Qualifying Courses: American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology and Foreign Language.

Choose the ONE level of membership for which you meet all of the requirements; you may not apply for Initial membership if you meet the requirements for Permanent membership. 

Check membership criteria and your transcript before paying the application fee or submitting your application for membership.  Payment is due when the application is submitted.
