We offer this competition at NO CHARGE to the high schools or the students!
High school students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their math skills, win prizes, meet others who excel in the discipline, and learn about math and science programs at Orange Coast College. Awards and prizes will be presented during a dinner immediately following the competition. Again, there is no cost to students or faculty sponsors to participate.
Each high school enters a team of four members and an optional alternate (a fifth member). A faculty sponsor must accompany each team. All team members must be enrolled in that high school and meet California Interscholastic Federation requirements.
The questions are generic math questions which are based on a variety of high school level mathematics topics up to and including Calculus. No calculators are allowed during the exam. There will be both individual and team winners.
The Math Meet will be held in the Giles T. Brown Forum, near the quad area of the Orange Coast College campus at 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa. Parking lot C is suggested, with access from Fairview Road at Arlington Drive. Parking permits are not needed on the afternoon of the event.
Due to staffing constraints, it is uncertain when the Math Meet will return. For more information, contact Tyler Boogar (tboogar@occ.cccd.edu).
