The Mathematics department of Orange Coast College is a leader in community college mathematics education, and features a diverse curriculum, innovative classes, outstanding faculty, a highly respected honors program, and a high rate of university transfer and success. The Orange Coast College Mathematics Department is a dynamic department with a wealth of distinguishing educational offerings. There are mathematics honors courses, the annual math meet for high school students. Various faculty members have personal projects accessible via their individual faculty webpages.
The mathematics department has had a number of its members recognized as Faculty of the Year, most recently Professor Kevin Shannon. Various members of the department regularly speak at math and educational conferences, serve as board members of community college mathematics organizations, author textbooks and articles, and develop unique educational programs. There are math courses at OCC which are not offered at any other community college.
